Equipment Logistics
Equipment Logistics is managing and executing the acquisition, relocation or disposal of hardware.
Acquisition
As part of a project we may act as a purchasing intermediary for our clients to assure they are procuring the right technology
at the best possible acquisition and maintenance costs. This may entail preparation of an RFI and/or RFP or be as simple as sending
a bid sheet to makers and resellers.
We do not take any commission or override on any direct hardware purchases arranged for our clients as part of a project.
Relocation
Relocation generally requires a quick review of vendor contracts to determine if site specific licenses exist.
Some hardware vendors "require" a recertification process if equipment is transferred between two locations
-- even if ownership does not change.
Consilium has been very effective working with those vendors to reduce or eliminate these recertification fees.
We will then prepare the equipment for shipment and schedule and track the pick-up, transport, and delivery.
Depending on the technology involved and any vendor contract limitations Consilium may be retained to perform the de-installation and re-installation
of the equipment
Resale
As a project: If you have usable technology we can act as the Transaction Intermediary.
We can determine the fair market value of the equipment, compare this against any remaining book value and guage the
asset valuation impact of the equipment resale.
We will then prepare a bid sheet of the equipment and distribute it to qualified resellers.
Upon receipt of the bids we will prepare a report on net financial impact of the transaction; bids versus FMV versus RBV
plus any fees associated with the termination of active maintenance contracts.
We can also work with the technology providing vendors to reduce or eliminate any such early termination penalties.
We will then work with the selected reseller to arrange the delivery of the equipment and your payment.
Disposal
Some technology is unusable and despite best efforts to resell there are no buyers.
We will perform a physical inventory the equipment and then contact equipment disposal companies requesting bids.
The disposal companies will be required to provide documentation describing their service as it relates to
environmental regulations, privacy, and security. This documentation will be made an ammendment to the contract thus making it binding.
Again, we will prepare a report of the net financial impact of the transaction;
cost of disposal, any contractual early termination penalties, RBV write-off, and insurance and property tax reduction.
If requested we will perform data sanitization of any disk drives using Department of Defense standards and provide a certificate of sanitation.
We will then manage the transfer of the equipment to the disposal company
and compile all of the sanitization and disposal documents into a Master Disposal File for your records.
